The US Mint recently changed their return policy to reduce the return period from 30 days to only 7 calendar days. This was done to coordinate with their new pricing policy, which updates the prices of precious metals related products as often as once per week.
From the results of the survey, it seems that many US Mint customers believe that 7 calendar days is too short a time frame for returns to take place. While the policy was probably necessary for gold and platinum products to prevent customers from returning items to take advantage of price changes, it was not necessary to apply the new policy to all products. The US Mint has argued that they did not want to implement separate return policies to create consistency, but they do have a separate policy in place for Direct Ship Presidential Dollars.
One respondent to the survey also raised the point that the US Mint takes far longer than 7 days to ship products to customers after they have ordered. Is it hypocritical of the US Mint to demand their customers ship products within 7 days, when they often take far longer?
