25 PAISE COMMEMORATIVE COINS OF INDIA

Development Oriented (Rural women’s advancement) 25 paise Coin, 1980

To highlight the need to improve the plight of women in rural areas, India issued a 25 paise commemorative coin on 1^st January, 1981. The obverse of the coin shows a woman using an electric husking machine, with a traditional granary and electric pylon in the background.Out of the other 3 coins issued on the same theme, the 10 paise coin was issued for general circulation and the 100 rupees & the 10 rupees coins were issued as proof specimens.

World food day commemorative 25 paise Coin, 1981

At the instance of F.A.O. (Food & Agriculture Organization) every year, 16^th October is observed throughout the world as “World Food Day”. To highlight the nature and dimension of shortage of food in the world and to intensify struggle against hunger, malnutrition and poverty, India issued a 25 paise commemorative coin on 16^th October 1981. Out of the other 3 coins issued on the same theme, the 10 paise coin was issued for general circulation and the 100 rupees & the 10 rupees coins were issued as proof specimens

IX Asian games commemorative 25 paise Coin, 1982

In the year 1982, the IXth Asian Games was held in Delhi from19th Novembert0 4^th December. To commemorate this event India issued a 25 paise coin on19th November,1982. Out of the other 4 coins issued on the same theme, the 10 paise & the 2 rupees coins were issued for general circulation and the 100 rupees & the 10 rupees coins were issued as proof specimens

Forestry for development 25 paise Coin, 1985

To highlight the need for conservation of forest and wild life and to bring about a greater awareness among people on the importance of forests to human life, a 25 paise coin was issued in 1985.T obverse of the coin shows a stylized tree in the background; with a deer, a bird in flight and a woman weaving baskets from bamboo-strips in the fore ground- suggesting thereby the close relationship that exists among
human beings, wildlife and forests.
