About Me
My name is Ryan. I just graduated from Flagler College in St. Augustine, Florida. I was born and raised in Florida, but have been all over this country. I have been collecting since 1997 but more serious starting in 2001. I have been to The ANA Summer Seminar for the past 6 years, at which I have recently started teaching at. I have started a coin and currency club at my college last year as well. I am also a District Representative for the ANA for north east Florida.
About My Coin Collection
I try to have a little of everything because everything is cool in its own way. The majority of my collection consists of U.S. and foreign mint error coins. I also have colonial notes, Ancient coins, Early U.S. copper and type sets.

The First Coin of Vermont

The First Coin of Vermont

By Ryan Greene

The new world was still much a part of the old when colonization began in America. Old ways were brought from host countries along with their coinage as well. A big part of commerce in the new world was foreign coinage. This was the case, with the exception of a few Massachusetts Bay coinage versions and the “Granby Copper” from Connecticut. Most coins were from European as well as Central and South American mints.

The Minting Process

Essential Numismatics: The Minting Process

By Ryan Greene

My friend David once said, “Everyone makes mistakes”, but attaining a firm grasp on the minting process will make it very tough to make a mistake in determining an error’s origin and rarity! Mint errors make us think hard about the minting process and all its parts. Knowing the ins and outs of the minting process is essential in understanding how an error came to be and why it is so valuable. You will… Continue

It's nice to see a younger person getting into the mint error side of the business. There really aren't very many coin enthusiasts into it since it takes many years of serious coin collecting [and many, many mistakes!] to really learn it, and I believe that is what keeps a lot of people out of it. On eBay you will see quite of few 'wannabes' trying to sell errors, but they are easily spotted by their total lack of knowledge as to the real nature of the error and by their rediculous descriptions. That's about all I have for now. Glad to make your acquaintance. P.S. I am not usually on the laptop all that much - too many other 'irons' in the fire, but I will try to reply back as soon as I can to any inquiries. Alan
