Here's a group for those who are interested in the banknotes, coins, postal orders,& traders' currency tokens of South Africa, the colonies, the Boer republics,& the Bantustans.See More
I did research on the Veldpond which was mnted in Pilgrim's Rest during the Anglo Boer War 1902. The reason for my research is that WG Reid, the "smithy" of the mint team is my grandfather.
About My Coin Collection
No, collection, only an interest in the history of the gold stories of the ZAR - the discovery of gold in the Transvaal, the Kruger millions, veldpond etc.
There's a South African numismatics group on here, which will be of interest to you.
Scott Balson & I used to be in contact with each other, but we fell out after he threatened to sue me in the South African courts knowing full well that a case against someone not even located in South Africa would be thrown out on jurisdictional grounds. He also wanted to sue Herman van Noordwyk as well.I think that even the Constitutional Court of South Africa in Johannesburg would have told Scott Balson where to get off,as it were.
Well done on the research project regarding the Veld Pond coin.I have got a South African Republic 1 Pond note in my collection, but it isn't a 'Te Velde' one though,as it is dated 1900,not 1902.
I also have some Orange Free State postal notes in my collection - mostly 1/- & 5/- ones, but I also have 2 of the 1 Pond ones, which are very scarce. One of them turned up over here in New Zealand,& the other one I bought in a postal auction in England, thanks to the Postal Order Society.
Hi Rentia,
As we talked, and communicated before.
you would realise the hogwash coming from Cristopher S.
As pointed out by me Personally to you, the researched done by your are claimed by Scott Balson as his own.
And he still to this day give indication the he had been the driving force behind the research.
So much for respected "member"
You had your dealings with him, and there is no need to slander him in order for you to point out who or what he is.
I respect your research, and although I might differ on some points, I would take it up with you personally rather than to start a public debate.
I also applaud the effort you put into it.
As far as "friends " in the Numismatic world go.. There are no friends or very few..there are friendly people...it is a battleground, and if a person are friendly, it is only one of 2 reasons..
they either scared of you ..or they want something from you..

please send me ur mailing address and mail id, i will send a beautiful coin or unc banknote from india (coin mailing no:1), i am planning to send more such coin mailings. After u receive it if u are happy with it , u can send me any coin from ur country. please join the club, i will initiate the exchange, please respond, no risk on your side, if u think that sending a single coin or note is not worthwhile then we could decide on increasing the number of coins and unc banknotes, so that our friendship will blossom. This is the initiative of the group called coins for friends join it, make me your friend. i like to have atleast 100 coin mailings to 100 different friends throughout the world by the end of this year.

Aidan.
Thought I would tip you off that Aidan is a good friend of Herman van Noordwyk.
I trust you can understand from this comment where this post by Aidan is coming from.
Scott Balson is highly respected in numismatic circles neither Aidan or Herman are.
Welcome to the politics of the board.
There's quite a few members in the South African numismatic forum.
There's also plenty of discussions on Kruger coins in there.
