Canadian Collectors-What would you do?

Ok,,heres the deal.I went to the flea market today, and I was targetting certain Canadian 50 cent pieces..like the 1999P, and other 50 cent pieces that were only released in proof like or RCM gift card sets. I collect Canadian coins and I toss and turn at night when I have loose ends in my collection like that.Well, one seller had a number of the ones I was after, but he wouldn't budge on the price even when his total asking price was 95 dollars. I asked him if he would shave it a bit and he…See More

1996 Canadian 5 Cent Far/Near Variety

Thumbnail
I was just browsing through my collection this evening, I have got 2, 5 cent pieces in cardboard 2 x 2's each with a notation I made indicated that one is a far 6 and the other is the near 6 variety. When I look at these things I swear..the 6 looks exactly the same distance from the D in Canada on both of the coins. i made these notation almost 10 years ago so i can't specifically remember buying them for these specific varietiesThe 2010 Charlton's instructions on how to identify it is far from…See More

Final US Territory 25 Cent Installment

Hello there, well like probably a couple of hundred million U.S citizens I myself collect the State Quarters. Majortity of them were the pick of the crop from my pocket change during my extensive travels to the U.S for work over the past 10 years(As a footnote I also collect BU Lincoln cents, and Presidential Dollars.Thats the extent of my American collecting, with the exception of approx 30 kennedy Halves.)Anyway the U.S Mints website claims the next presidential dollar is due out on the 18th,…See More

BU Red Lincolns

Ive mentioned this before but just a a little history, Im putting together a complete BU Red Lincoln cent collection, (all mint marks and all in airtites) and I have now hit all the more expensive ones. 1930-1909.I have a 2009 Red Book, and a 2009 Red Book specific to Lincolns, but I find the values listed inconsistant. When I view the hammer prices on ebay of this material, vs these same 2 resources once again there is no consistancy. Dealer prices at coin show I attend seem to be all over the…See More

Carbon Spots Lincoln Cents

Hi, Im a Canadian but during these hard economic times over the past 8 month, Ive been taking it easy on my Canadian collection, (as all I need now is the major key dates) and I started to work on a BU Red collection of Lincolns, all mint marks.Working backwards I got em all, 2009 all the way back to 1934, along wth some good examples of sporadic dates prior to this, and now they are really getting pricey, but Im determined to get it done.A couple of them have the odd carbon spot on them and I…See More

Welcome aboard,Martin!

How's the numismatic trade over there in Toronto?

Are you collecting Canadian Tire's famous 'tyre money' notes?

Aidan.

Martin,
Did you know that the 'tyre money' is Canada's second national currency?

Well,it is,even though it can be really classed as a community currency like the Toronto Dollars is.

Martin,
There's a discussion thread about Canadian Tire's 'tyre money' up on World Community Currencies, which will be of interest to you.

Do you know which province(s) the Pioneer Bonus Bucks are issued in? There's nothing mentioned about this on http://www.pioneer.ca/bonusbucks/ at all.

Martin,
I finally got a 2005 Alberta Centenary commemorative 25c. coin,as I found it while sorting out a nice lot of coins for pulling out the currency coins from.

I was very pleased to get it,despite having a disappointing time at the coin & stamp fair this morning - I was only able to get 2 Nigerian notes, plus a Singaporean $5 paper note that I didn't have.

please send me ur mailing address and mail id, i will send a beautiful coin or unc banknote from india (coin mailing no:1), i am planning to send more such coin mailings. After u receive it if u are happy with it , u can send me any coin from ur country. please join the club, i will initiate the exchange, please respond, no risk on your side, if u think that sending a single coin or note is not worthwhile then we could decide on increasing the number of coins and unc banknotes, so that our friendship will blossom. This is the initiative of the group called coins for friends join it, make me your friend. i like to have atleast 100 coin mailings to 100 different friends throughout the world by the end of this year.
