U.S. Mint sinks the TITANIC 5 times

I am learning Windows Excel 2000.  Self taugh so I may have made some big mistakes in my formula, but you can check the math. The mint says the weight of a quarter is 5.670 gram.If I multiply this by the mintage figures supplied by the mint, I'll have the weight of the mintage in grams.Divide by 1000 to get the number of kilograms, then multiply by 2.2 to get the number of pounds, then divide by 2000 to get the tonnage. For 1999 only, there were 4,430,940,000 state quarters minted or…See More

What is the amount of PREMIUM the mint charges to ASE dealers?

It looks like you can buy Silver  (Eagles ASE) from the mint if you can afford 25,000 of them at one shot.  I can only afford a couple thousand ounces now so I'm wondering if anyone knows the premium,  charged by the mint per ounce,  over spot price for the coins. The information is supposed to be in the "federal Register."   Unfortunately the info is buried under thousands of pages of superfluous garbage like most government information.Mr. Buffalo can you clue me in?I figure in about 30 more…See More

Can anyone identify this medal?

This Theodore Roosevelt medal is about 38.5mm and weighs .9 Troy oz.  There seems to be a mint mark of CCS-66 on the reverse.  This could be silver plated lead for all I know.  There are no markings describing what it is made of. I should have invested more in Beany Babies.See More

What is keeping the economy afloat?

Things have been screwed up for years now. There is a basic problem with employment, especially here in Michigan. We used to be famous for automobiles, but now seem to be more famous for crime and unemployment.I think this is going to explode soon with skyrocketing gold and silver prices.Look around!I see two people building cars for sale.  One is built on my side of the street by people who get $75 an hour.  The fellow on the other side of the street builds the same car and gets paid $20 an…See More

My Local Coin Dealer thinks I have a fake gold coin

I took my gold coin collection to my local dealer for an evaluation confab on grading. One coin, a $5 indian had always been in a bezel for as long as I have had it.  I was told that it looked like a fake, however, don't be too concerned as it is worth bullion value in gold. A more thorough evaluation could only be made by removing it from the bezel. My collection was promptly returned to my safe deposit box. After thinking it over for a while, I am extremely interested in finding out if the…See More

CASH for Gold coins or your broken unwanted jewelry

The "Cash for Gold" industry seems to spend more dollars on TV commercialse very day.    Since I never had any "UNWANTED" gold or Mis- matched double eagles,   I never investigated the probable pittances paid for such by them.Has anyone here ever investigated their payouts?  What would they pay for a bullion grade $20 gold double eagle?See More

How long does it take for the mint to answer it's mail?

I wrote to the mint (using pen and ink and a stamp) inquiring about the packaging materials used to distribute their product. The question was promoted by one of this forums users who was concerned about acidic papers that may harm the surface of coins. After about 2 months I figure they are waiting for me to send a payment in return for an answer..Your tax dollars at work? Go figure!See More

New Lincoln Cents LP2 lets share information

I have Charter Pipeline internet service at home and my connections are lightning fast. At two minutes past 12:00 on the 14th, ( using Internet Explorer) I tried to get on to the mint web site to order my share of the LP2 cents. I had 2 or 3 windows open and all my attempts to enter the site (via multiple paths) did not go further than clicking on the "ON LINE ORDER". part of the site. After about 25 minutes, I decided to go through America Online and try their servers path to the mint site.…See More

Hello !!

I am sure that Coin Network will bring many special-interest collectors and hobbyists together. I am a collector, hobbyist, and coin-student based in India.

Indian coins are gradually becoming a rage worldwide. To know more about them, I request you to please join Indian Coins group at

Help us to popularize Indian Coins collection, study and information-dissemination. This can be done if a very large number of friends are brought to this group for sharing of information about Indian Coins.

i have sent total 29 letters containing a indian coin and unc bank note(special to Tony Ahva). Any body like to join the club, could do so. I will send a letter with a indian coin to build friendship. If u are not interested, please ignore this message. Friends from America, European states, please give your mailing address and email id. If u think sending one coin is not worth as it would cost 2-3$ for the postage. Then we will work out for atleast 10 -15 coins, by ordinary post only. First give ur address, join coins for friends group. Then i will send u a coin from india. You the check the quality of the coin and its sender. If u trust me, then u can send 10-15 coins or any unc bank note to my address. When i receive your assorted coins or bank notes. Then i would send u the equivalent 10-15 coins from india.
You can specify the coins u want. First i will take the first step in building trust between us, then we can go in for exchange of coins or bank notes. If u dont trust me then u can have the coin i sent you. No regrets, grudges.

the members receiving the coin are as follows (it will reach to destination in 10 -15 days)
