OK here is a new one on me....I picked up a penny at an auction this afternoon (for a whole quarter) with a very visible and clear 196 with a D mintmark....there is no fourth digit in the date.  Under very high light it looks like there might be a ghost of a 1 in that spot.  Has anyone ever seen anything like this?  I will get a picture up here in a few minutes.See More

I am putting together a less than perfect set of wheats.  I bought an ANACS graded "1909 s VDB 10 Weak VDB". 2 questions...Does the Weak VDB designation help or hurt the value?  Second, I am thinking of cracking this out since it is such a low grade coin and putting it in the album with the rest of my set.  I am not a big fan of slabs.  I am interested to hear other's thoughts.  Thanks.

Lincoln Cent Collectors!!!

I am putting together a less than perfect set of wheat pennies.  I bought a 1909 s VDB graded by ANACS as a "10 Weak VDB".  I have 2 questions.  First, does the "Weak VDB" add to or subtract from the value of the coin?  Second,  I am seriously considering cracking this out to add it to the folder with the other coins since it is graded this low.  I am not real big on slabs but I do know there are counterfeit issues with this coin.  I would value any thoughts from the community.  Thanks.
