For this topic, I want 3 coins that meet the following criteria:
1. Can Be Bought for Less than $50.
2. U.S. or Canada Coins Only
3. Born on or Before 1931.

My 3 coins that I like meeting this criteria:
1927-S Quarter in VG-8.
1913 Quarter in VG-8.
1913-S Dime in VG-8.

Close contenders: 1931-S Nickel in AU-50, 1883 Shield Nickel in EF, 1883 No Cent Nickel in AU, (Generic Barber Quarter) in VF-20.

What do you all like?

those are great picks for the budget minded collector Hornet..I especially like the low mintage 1931-S Buffalo in AU50 for less than $50....here are a couple I like for classic coinage in good grades at under $50 each..( I'm cheating and including 4)

1) the 1909 VDB cent can be found in a nice MS63 RB for under $50...(good type coin)
2) 1913 T1 Buffalo nickel can be had in MS60-63 grade for under $50
3) 1930 Standing Liberty Quarter--most common date can be found in AU for under $50
4) 1917 Walking Liberty Half--most common early date Walker, should be able to find a highly detailed XF/AU coin for under $50....

keep posting e1..this thread could give me some ideas for cheap coins to fill some type set holes !!
