Coin Network - Coin Collecting Social Network

In addition to banknotes, coins, community currencies, currency tokens,& medal-coins,both postal notes & postal orders are also going to be given catalogue listings up on http://www.worldnumismaticphotogallery.net/ once it comes online either later on this week or during the next week or so.

The website is in the process of being built by a fellow numismatist, who comes from India.

Postal order collecting has become popular with collectors, especially in England,so it is appropriate that they should finally get listed, considering that a postal order is most definitely a numismatic item, because of its strong resemblance to a banknote.

Yahya,
That's a very nice 7 Rupees Specimen postal order that you have got there.

I don't know when this pre-decimal issue was introduced to replace the British Indian overprinted postal orders though.

Aidan.
Dear Aidan,
We cannot yet assign a year to this issue, but a good guess would be late forties or at the most very early fifties.

Yahya,
This is a very good reason why you should join the Postal Order Society.

There was an article in the latest issue of 'Postal Order News' about Pakistani low denomination postal orders with their commissions increased up to 15 Rupees by way of a purple handstamp.

You can find more information here; http://postalordersociety.blogspot.com .

Dear Aidan,
I have just sent an email to Postal order society, indicating that I wish to join.

Dear Aidan,
I am uploading an image of Type-2 Pakistan P/O, which has value in Bangla as well. We dont know how many denominations were issued of this type
Rgds-YJQ

Yahya,
That 10 Rupees one is pretty nice, even though I couldn't read the date or the place name in the datestamp.

Bengali was included, because of the postal orders being issued in East Pakistan (now Bangladesh) as well as West Pakistan (now Pakistan).

Aidan.

Dear All, This is type-3 series of Pakistan P/Orders.These were issued after the country adopted Metric system in 1961. Denominations not known at this time.
Rgds-YJQ
Yahya,
If these are dated 1980,then they are very late issues.

Although Pakistan changed to decimal currency in 1961,it is the date of the datestamp that influences whether the postal order is a contemporary issue or a late issue.

Aidan.

Dear All, This is type 4 of Pakistan Postal orders.Denominations known are Rs.1,2,5,10,15,20,30,40,50,100, and possibly Rs.25,250,500.Images of last three not available yet.Issue period not certain but guess is late eighties or early nineties.
Rgds-YJQ
Yahya,
That 10 Rupees one has a very clear Lahore datestamp & the date 24th. of May 1992.
