I started this group to see if I could get some help. I have a coin that does not have a country on it and is pretty battered up. On one side is a woman's head with ELIZABETH II and the rest of it is a guess, but looks like D (dot) G (or a cursive C) R E O F D and what looks like 1971.
The other side has a grid in the middle with chains hanging on each side and says NEW PENNY.
Does anyone know where I could get more information on it? What country it might be from?
The only way for me to get a good enough picture to post will take some time, I'll need to use a film camera and get the pictures developed.
Any help would be great!!

Your coin is a British New Penny. It is quite a common item and can be found by the hundreds at most coin shops in the world coin bin.

Below is a photograph of one.

What a wonderful site. I am still new to it but love it so far. Can a person list coins for sale on it or is that not allowed? How nice it is to share coin photos from around the world and make new freinds.
