Most coin publications that I have subscribed to over the years give very little consideration to the average collector. Currently I subscribe to Numismatic News, Coins magazine and receive numerous E-mails from dealers, brokers, auction companies, etc.,more often than not I am disappointed that little if any coverage is devoted to specific coins(1996 W Roosevelt dime 0r complete set of Roosevelt dimes or Jefferson nickels, 2001 S Sacagawea dollar or set of sacagawea dollars, and so on)in the form of updates, market trends, mintages, etc., every collector enjoys reading about their coins. My opinion,
Hi Melvin. I agree. With coin collecting and the publications you mentioned, there is always the flavor of the month that attracts the attention. Also I believe too much attention is given to the US Mint products. The UHRrelief controversy in another forum is a good example of that. Try the www.coppercoins.com website. There is a very active forum there, http://www.coppercoins.com/forum/ that includes forums devoted to any coins you want to discuss. There is also a way to easily post pictures in there too.
Hello Gary, glad to hear from you. I totally agree with you about the offerings of the US Mint. They are to expensive, most are unimaginative (example, Presidential Dollars), and their customer service leaves a lot to be desired. It seems that the only time the Mint issues anything of real value other than bullion coins is a mistake or error coin like the 08 silver eagle with the 07 reverse or the missing edge lettering. thanks for the information, coppercoins. com
