The time is almost upon us and so comes the release of the Lincoln commemorative silver dollar. The picture, seen on this network provided by coin network, looks pretty good. Makes me curious about the uncirculated version of the coin. I hope it looks as good as the proof. Does anyone know if there will also be a half dollar version or is the one from 1918 going to have to suffice? I know the early commemorative isn't named the Lincoln commemorative but rather it's named the Illinois commemorative half dollar. Although it's commonly called the Lincoln commemorative. I've got a nice example of that coin and the new uncirculated one with it will make a nice set. The proof looks so good I'll probably end up getting that as well. I've added the pic of the Illinois commemorative coin here for your viewing pleasure.

I am definitely a buyer for the 2009 Lincoln Commemorative. In my opinion this is the most broadly popular subject for a commemorative since the 2001 Buffalo. The 2009 Lincoln Cents will also generate interest in the commemorative. Finally, prices are actually lower this year with the Unc coin for $31.95 and the proof for $37.95. I think this has a pretty good chance for a sell out.

Here's a pic of the Unc version.

I bought one of the proofs yesterday, my first silver dollar. It looks fantastic and as my wife is an Illinoisan history teacher who recites the Gettysburg address any time Gettysburg is mentioned (we also visited on our honeymoon) I couldn't resist. This'll be my first silver proof too.
I'm so glad you dove into the world of Silver Dollars. The Lincoln certainly is a good one to start with.

I just ordered mine yesterday and can't wait until it gets here. I think they'll sell out too as it's a very popular theme. I do like the older coin better. (The Illinois Centennial coin with Lincoln on the reverse.)
