While some collectors are reporting that the 2009 Ultra High Relief Double Eagles are in perfect condition, at least a few people have reported less than perfect coins.
I think my coin looks pretty darned fabulous. I took a look at it under magnification (6x) and couldn't find any defects. Maybe I need to increase magnification and take another look, but all-in-all, I'm very happy with my coin.
As an aside, while I was standing inside of my local coin dealers shop a gentleman came in with 2 UHRDE's. The first coin that was glassed looked real nice, according to the dealer. The second coin was not so fortunate. The rim had some scratches that were obvious to the naked eye. What a shame. These rim scratches appear to be more and more commonplace. I guess I got lucky...

I picked up my UHR tonight from UPS. How would I describe it? To quote a line from Seinfeld, it's spectacular. I'm looking to get something stronger than my current magnifying glass to see all the detail.
My, UHR. came on 03/03/09,I got my order in at 12:19, on 01/22/09 it has a very nice box, so nice I hated to take out the coin! but I did, sent to ngc next day service, I check on it today? Weds 11th to see if I got a gread ? YES,YES , ms70, WOW and I did not think it would make that gread, the obverse is not as nice as the reverse? NOW How do I get the Slab in the box or what do I do with the box ???
I obtained three of these coins. Two were sent off to PCGS after I failed to see any issues under a 20X scan. They received an MS 69 & MS 70. One of the coins is going to be a display coin. It does have a rim issue similar to those mentioned by Dev. Perhaps I would have done myself a favor by sending the flawed product back, but I had to wait so long for delivery that I resigned myself to the status quo.
I do not see a problem for Andrew and the box. The PCGS slab will fit in the box when I desire to sell. Obviously the "hole display" is no longer functional. I keep all my investment coin slabs in a safety deposit box and store the UHR boxes in my home. A buyer can decide what to do at purchase because all original materials and books will be present. I even got the plastic mint capsules back from PCGS.
