What a great group to start!! I have ALOT of Morgans but the best I have are New Orleans! In the beginning-20+ years ago- I wanted to concentrate on 1 mint, which at that time was the Carson City. But after checking around and investigating all CC I figured I could only put a quality set together if my name ended in Buffett or Rockefeller!! New Orleans was next in my sights. It does have its high prices but not as many so I started putting it together. I finished the ENTIRE New Orleans set about 2 weeks ago when I finally got ahold of the 1893 and 1895 for under a grand in MS-63 each. For 1878 I put a CC and 1921 I got all 3 -P,D,S - to finish the 'set'. I also have a bunch of other dates and mintmarks of other Morgans but none as treasured as my New Orleans collection. Any ideas on what other NO sets are nice but affordable to put together?? BRYAN

I love New Orleans gold. There are some high mintage Quarter eagles, Half eagles, and eagles. I am not Buffet either so sets are expensive, yet a piece here or there is nice. CHECK OUT coin values this month. New Orleans coins are cover feature. Tells all silver and gold coinage

The history of the New Orleans mint is very interesting to research. During the civil war the mint was captured by the confederate army and they started minting for a short time confederate union coinage. The price of the O mint coins is less than the other two southern mints making it a good investment if you feel prices will catch up.This is a picture of one of my favorite coins. The eye appeal is beautiful.
