Ive never noticed this before Aiden..indeed a wide rim.
I have a 'complete' nickel dollar collection ( i know for sure Im mising alot of the varieties) as well as a 'complete' proof like collection, all enclosed in the original cellophane packaging, and both of them I have for this year is a wide rim.Perhaps the original origin of my single nickel dollar came from a proof-like set..hard to say.
This will give me something to research into this weekend.

  Did you find any more information about the nickel Voyageur Dollars with the wide rims?

 

I have not come across any more since I got this one a few years back.
