Mark,
Did you once say in one of your vids that most proof coins are ms68's or ms69's and that is the reason you like them over buying MS70's? Are there any stats on this? Also, I am not quite sure why there are no 2009 American Silver Eagle proof coins but I will try to find out.
2009 Proof Silver Eagles is an interesting topic, so I started a discussion on this in the group forum.

Nope no stats but if you look at each proof eagle (silver or gold) it will fall into that range of PR 68-70. I have never seen one that did not unless it had been abused..lol So far the mint does not have any plans (officially published) to produce 2009 proof Silver or gold Eagles, but if they do it will be a very low mintage year and probably hard to find
Can anyone tell me how the scarcity of 2009 Silver Eagle proof coins would impact the perceived value of MS 70 graded Silver Eagles? The way I understand this, you have a much greater chance of getting an MS70 in proof coins that you would in the general coin runs for the same coin. Is this the mint's way of imparting greater numismatic value for this coin in the hope that it will drive the collector price up? Many have said(I tend to disagree) that the Silver Eagle is simply a bullion coin with currently little numismatic value. The fact that proofs will be limited or nonexistent seems to change the whole ballgame around this coin doesn't it?

The mint made tons of 2009 silver eagles for bullion so finding a prefect coin is very likely and then it depends on the grading service you use. ICG and ANACS will grade more MS70's than NGC or PCGS will. ICG and ANACS grade more 70's because they are not a strict on grading perfect coins as NGC and PCGS. I have few 70's from PCGS from 2008 but I picked through a few 2009 tubes and found 2 that would probably grade a 70 so I doubt I will buy a slabbed 2009. I think you are going to see the mint produce proof coins in late Oct or Nov and they will be a very low mintage. I would get your subscription now with the mint if you want to see one for a good price.

I agree the Mint will likly strike a Proof and also a UNC W Mint Silver Eagle late in the year. Particularly now that they have caught up with the MS issue. It may be the lowest mintage PF of the series. It would be a shame to break the string since it have been going since 1986.
Just got word of an exciting coin that I can tell you more about in a about a week. 1986 PR70 American Silver Eagle. Anybody have any input on what you might expect to pay for that coin right now?
Anyone know how rare in terms of mintage on this particular coin? How many 1989 proofs were there and how many would grade out as PR70's? Just curious at this point.
PS- I am not the EBAY seller on this coin for the link above.
