Has anyone either gotten a message that their Buffalo was shipped or more importantly has anyone received their Buffalo? If anyone received their Buffalo did you truly receive a proof coin of pre-Moy quality?

I've heard of one or two that got their Buffalo already. Mine was initially backordered to 11-12 but the next day was showing in stock and reserved. I talked to the mint today and she said that "high value orders take longer to process". She then said my card was pre-authorized on 11-2 and then had no explanation at all why it had not shipped.

Does anyone know who was the previous mint fulfillment contractor and why they are no longer in place? PBGS is a f%&$*@! joke! (And the mint ain't far behind quality wise.)

Another question..........Since the mint is required by law to make proof Buffalo's why are they not listed on the subscription page?

I ordered on October 29, 2009 at 15:20 hours. I do not know anyone who has recieved their coin. My order is in the "Reserved" status. This situation reminds me of the UHR situation. They probably need additional time for PB employees to pick out all the MS 70s before they ship the rest to us peons.
As far as the requirements of the law, I am not sure that they are required to mint any proof coins. They do have to mint the bullion coins to "satisfy the demand of the public".
Bill- I did read recently that there is a "for-bid" contract out on the street looking for someone to come in and get the Mint Web-site up to par. Lets just hope PBGS doesn't win that contract also.

I stopped by the PO Box on the way home as I was expecting a package of saffron to arrive and sure enough there was a package notice in my box. I took it to the window and the guy came back with two packages. One was the saffron and the other was from PBGS. On 10-29 I ordered two proof Buffalo's and the Braille set on the same order. The Braille set arrived today and required a signature which was odd since the two shipments of mint sets I ordered were just tossed on the front porch with no signature required.

As mentioned a couple of hours ago I spoke with the mint today regarding this order and both the person I spoke with and the mint website says they are still in stock and reserved. Maybe I'll get lucky and they will send me another one.

Some of the Buffalo orders have been shipped and received by the buyers (graded ones are already on eBay) but I know of 2 placed at 12:13 which have not shipped yet as of now. On the shipping issue, if the Mint does a partial shipment from an order that qualifies for the expedited shipping, the partial shipments are shipped the same way and therefore require a signature. I received an overnight shipment today requiring a signature for a box containing $16.50 worth of merchandise. This was the second overnight shipment so far on this order with four more items left. Both of the first two shipments together were less than $100. Every item was in stock when ordered and has shown "in process" and "in stock and reserved" since I ordered so I have no idea why the multiple shipments and the extra expenses to the Mint.

Like I said, this will be like UHR redux!

A friend of mine made a comment yesterday that the large number of bullion version Buffalos sold so far may have caught the Mint off guard, and therefore reduced the number of available blanks for the proofs. CoinNews reported today that the sales of the bullion Buffs are now at 132,000 for an increase of 15,500 in the last seven days. They also report the proofs are at 27,955, with 8,487 added in the past week. The proof sales have already exceeded last years total mintage and the bullion are only 40,000 short of last years total. Given these large numbers, the Mints problems this year with blank supplies, and the unexplained shipping delays on early orders, there might be quite a bit of truth to his comment.
i made first order 10/29/09 at 12:09, shipped 11/03, received 11/05
i made2nd order 10/29/09 at 12:12, shipped 11/04, received 11/06
both coins are beautiful, both have been dispatched to slabbers.

these coins were once available by subscription, but the subscriptions were discontinued by the mint, remember this email received on 04/30/09:

American Buffalo Subscription Cancellation

Dear United States Mint Customer,

We are contacting you regarding your American Buffalo Gold Proof Coin subscription order. Effective January 12, 2009, the United States Mint implemented a new policy for the pricing of gold and platinum coins. Under this policy, pricing may vary weekly dependent upon the London Bullion Market Association’s weekly average price for precious metals. Due to these pricing fluctuations, we can no longer set standard subscription prices for this product. As a result, the American Buffalo One Ounce Gold Proof Coin will no longer be offered under the online subscription program.

You will soon receive another communication confirming the cancellation of your American Buffalo Gold Proof Coin subscription order. To ensure continuation of your American Buffalo Gold Proof Coin collection, you may purchase them through our online catalog or by telephone at 1-800-USA-MINT (872-6468), when they become available for sale.

The on-sale date for the 2009 American Buffalo Gold Proof Coin has not yet been determined.

You may remain up-to-date on product releases by receiving product notifications via e-mail (http://www.usmint.gov/email/index.cfm?action=newsletters). You may also visit our Schedule of Products Listing page where release dates for United States Mint coins and other products are published.

That Mint statement regarding the reason for subscription cancellation is some of the weakest lies that have come out of the Mint since Moy took over (Moy has no idea what the truth is.) Every subscription item is subject to the price in effect at the time the subscription is filled. Where in the world do these rank amateurs come up with this B.S.?

I am pleased to hear however that the Mint did send out a quality item. Let us all know how the coins were graded. Did you send them to PCGS or NGC?
i submitted to pcgs, very recently, but another recipient reported that he received 5, submitted 5, and realized 5 pr70dcam, a grand slam.
SID,

Great news. I ordered 3 hours after you did. I suppose that it made a difference in that I will have a long wait. I already like my bullion Buff in MS 70 and I am sure that the proof will be even more impressive.
