what is the best way to photgraph my coins?
I own a`cannon powershot 1000 and I can not get my coins to come out clear on a photo, Is their a trick to it or certain setting??`

It is best to use a flat-bed scanner,in combination with this FREE photo editor; http://www.photoscape.org .

Looks like your camera has sufficient MPs...my unprofessional method that worked was as follows
- put it on a tripod at the shortest length (mine was about 1.5-2 ft
- zoom in only to 2-3X zoom (have a 5 MP camera)
- take a photo using the auto timer...prevented my shaking hands from ruining everything
- then blow up the picture in a photo editing software.
With the MPs you have blowing it up should not distort the picture too much...
