Pure Politics- The place for those who can't restrain themselves from bringing politics into every coin thread.

Here is the place for those who want to battle it out without taking every thread into the gutter. Feel free to call politicians and appointed government idiots whatever names you want, make up history to suit your argument, restrain from telling the whole story if it doesn't reflect well on your position, and show the rest of the world just how messed up the USA is behind the scenes. Please refrain from cursing as that only shows your true level of education.

I'll start it off with the leading issues that seem to enter into every thread.

If that's the best retort you can come up with, then it wouldn't be a fair arguement. You seem to have missed the point regarding the statement my Mother was making, how sad!? Maybe you should open a church. I may not have much money, but I'm a very rich man!

Bruce- Did you go through the 300F-1 course? If so, what year?

91A/B in 1972; 18D in 1973 (50 week course at Bragg and Ft. Sam); 91C in 1987 at Ft. Sam. I know that the Army has changed the MOS designations since I retired in 1996, but that was enough for me, lol!

300F-1 may be what 18D later became. I did 91B in 80 and 300F in 81/2.

then you spent some time at the "Country Club of the Army". I loved that place. I was stationed there 6 times, in between deployments to foreign lands, lol! Although Granada was the best. A few hours shooting Cubans, and a few weeks drinking. Playing AC/DC towards the palace in Panama was a trip as well. Spent some quality TDY time with a little company out of Langley, but hey, I was just a medic!

Bruce: “I still had to buy my first car” I know you won’t understand, but that caused me to chuckle (Do you want to know why). I am very sorry to hear about your father, but it does give me a little insight about you as does your mothers premature death. If you were in the military, you may be the first veteran that I know of, who turned down educational benefits (or did you?). I know they were earned as were mine. They were still provided by the Government. A great program that has helped many veterans-myself included. I have long, long ago moved on (50+ yrs.). I have some fond memories as well as the bad ones. If we don’t have some type of dialog, we might repeat some of the bad ones. If SP….. was explained by a bigot, why reuse it? You would be even richer if you would let go of your bitterness. Not sure, but the slam about sucking it up. You could not be serious, so I will let it go.

Your mother could not have been clearer. I would hope no one could miss her point. I am afraid you missed my point & I am relieved you missed it. I do apologize. I had a bad day @ the stock market and took it out on you-forgive me!

If I did open a church, would you come?

I was going to comment on a later unbelievable post of yours, but was at a loss for words. I am beginning to think you are not serious.

To sum it all up----America is the greatest country on earth & I owe all I have to the USA. It is a very diverse country and has room for all viewpoints, but there has to be compromise and/or agreement with a large portion of the people. Without dialog & direction, this country may become ungovernable. I hope that is not something any of us want?

One other thing ------Ken Burns (I know, I know he is a L Democrat) is working on a documentary about the dust bowl. He was scheduled to be here for “Dust Bowl Days” for pictures & stories, but I was sick and unable to attend. I’m not sure when it will be out, but for a few of you history buffs it might be interesting. Some of his other works are---- The Civil War (1990), Baseball (1994), Jazz (2001), The War (2007), and The National Parks: America's Best Idea (2009).

Good post Ike. I could not agree with you more. I love Ken Burns stuff and as a former history teacher and full time civil war buff, (my house sits on land that Thomas J Jackson used as a bivouac in 1862 as he went up to Harper's Ferry. Lee crossed the river near here and proceeded to Sharpsburg.) ) I find his presentations to be accurate and well documented.
We make progress when we examine our past and change those things that limit human progress and retard social justice. You and I have lived long enough to see great changes in racial and sexual attitudes. They have been painful changes but I think they have made us a better nation.
