Coin Network - Coin Collecting Social Network

The world in a coin. This is our vision, our hope. It is a necessity and a challenge. What seems an impossible dream becomes an inevitable historic, economic and social process. It is an event which is intertwined with the fate of human evolution.
A single currency becomes the premise for an increasingly global planet. A virtual currency capable of speaking a single, comprehensible language to foster humankind's innate desire to go farther, to surpass boundaries, and move towards true principles of peace, freedom, brotherhood and understanding beyond issues of race, political and religious beliefs and party interests.

We are presenting the peoples of nations, governments, institutions, intellectuals, ordinary people, pragmatists and idealists, scholars and, above all, young people - the real protagonists of the future - with a simple, ingenuous yet determined long-term vision for building an ideal bridge with tomorrow and interpreting a dream to transform into reality.

In this program, currency yet again assumes the principle goal which it has had since its invention centuries ago: to facilitate and codify human commercial and social exchange. And become a form of pure "communication" between different peoples - a communication of ideas, ideals, information and culture. This constitutes progress, development and well being. THE COIN LOOK NICE BUT WILL IT FLY? WE WILL SEE ONE DAY

Is it me or is this a soliloquy that's missing a commonly unnecessary introduction, or perhaps a dissertation for the rest of us that's missing its point? Seriously, I don't get how the author is forming a fluid thought process here. Does he want to put the world in a coin (a difficult prospect indeed)? Or maybe he wants one coin for the world? It's not clear. When the author is talking about "we" and "our" is he referring to him and some club of his, or all of us as humans? I don't know about you, but I don't want anyone speaking for me.

The author also talks about presenting a "vision" but fails to mention what that is, nor does he invite the reader to learn what the "program" he is talking about entails. Too many holes in this commentary. Sorry, it makes no sense.

I'd be delighted to read what the author has to write, but perhaps he should take the time to proof-read his post to critique its coherency first.

I’m not sure who the author was but it certainly wasn’t George. He just added the stuff in caps at the end. Some day we’ll have a unified planet – if we haven’t destroyed ourselves first. The question is will the “unity” be like after a nuclear holocaust as in the Mad Max movies or will it be more like Star Trek…

Of course the rest of the world wants global unity. They want us to give up some of what we have and come down to their level - “us” being the United States of America. They’re getting their wish and quite frankly it disgusts me. Our current “leader” seems more interested in globe trotting around the world to apologize for being an American than he is in fixing things at home.

I don’t apologize for what I/we have and I don’t want to come down to anyone else’s level. I work hard for what I have.

As for coins… as stated in the original article… How is it that coins a form of pure communication of ideas, ideals and information? That’s what the Internet is for. I thought coins and currency were invented to provide a means of paying taxes to the government or ruling body.

Unity… we’re well on our way… we’re coming down to everyone else’s level. We don’t need coins to do that for us. I’m obviously not for a global coin or currency.

I think this passage from the Gospel of Matthew sums it up pretty well:

Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves.

This discussion sure has diverged…

George - I agree, the design of the coin is nice.

Will it fly? I pray not!

It's a world of laughter, a world of tears;
It's a world of hopes, and a world of fears.
There's so much that we share that it's time we're aware--
It's a small world after all.

They’re presenting (selling) the coin as a symbol of world peace. Sure, if we were to stand together and sing a chorus of “We Are The World” our hearts would sing. I might even have tears in my eyes.
"Unity in Diversity". Wow, Medvedev is a bold man and we've underestimated his genius.

In the text George quoted it says this is "a virtual currency". If that's supposed to be a gold coin, it looks like they're proposing a gold-backed virtual currency; held in vaults around the globe but networked together. You'll get virtual credits added to your cellphone/PDA...or as an RFID chip under the skin of your hand, so you don't worry about misplacing your wallet. No more tax evasion, no more imbezzlement. This brand of personal accountability is a godsend to our troubled world.

I must say I'm amazed to see this this kind of foresight. A gold-backed global virtual currency. It's an idea whose time has come. It definitely would solve all the world's financial instability. Restore order, eliminate identity thieves, render the pickpocket obsolete.

Pragmatists, idealists, evolutionists, progressives, scholars, intellectuals, unite with all the people of the world.
Imagine there's no countries...nothing to kill or die for.
Imagine all the people living life in peace...and the world will be as one.

Nonetheless, there is great hope and expectation that truly, one day not too far from now, even if only partially at first, the world really can be “United by a Coin”.
Pretty cool concept but remember that we (the USA) would be hurt the worst if this ever happens. We reap big beneifits by the world using our dollar as the top world currency for major world trade. Cost of gas at the pump would double.
can i be the first to say that there is two side of a coin this side look good but what about the other side I just don,t know?

I don't see countries like England and the US going for this because it would put the rest of the world on equal footing with them. And God forbid, all of the countries in England's empire, oops, commonwealth, become independent.

My favorite quote from Hendrik Willem van Loon (Tolerance): Happily lived mankind in the peaceful valley of ignorance.

If you keep the people well fed and happy with a sprinkling of disinformation, you'll be able to convince people that the world is still flat. That's what I see with this single, world currency.
