I recently read an artical saying that keeping coins in folder (not inc. dansco) is hazardous to your coins. I have alot of bu to vf lincolns and im worried. Not having much money to spend on coins I feel the folders make it more fun but I dont want to ruin my coins. Is there a way to protect the whole folder??
check out the intercept shield coin albums,
i am looking to purchase a few myself to replace the old whitman folders I had as a kid,
they are supposed to be archival quality... http://www.brent-krueger.com/ishield.html
that site will give you an idea about the different ways to protect coins...i haven't bought anything from them myself, but they have a good selection...
I have recently purchased a couple of intercept shield albums and they are very nice, offering several layers of protection. They also have envelopes and pouches but I don't know if they are big enough to hold your coin folder. http://www.wizardcoinsupply.com/intercept-shield-archival-envelope....
Air Tite holder's (they have albums too) may be another less expensive route, but you haven't really mentioned at what level your Lincoln Cent collection is. Do you collect them in circulated grades or in Gem BU condition? If you collect circulated Lincoln's then I doubt that any half way decent album will hurt your coins. On the other hand, if your collecting BU Red Lincoln's and hanling them properly with gloves while placing them into your album, you might need to upgrade to a better album. I've never been overly fond of the company that you mentioned. There are several good options available, but the key words that Ben mentioned are "archival quality", look for that and you'll do ok. Another good company that offers wholesale pricing is http://www.brooklyngallery.com/ and I recommend them. ~ Jim U.S. Coin Collecting
