The Type 1 of 1913, the Buffalo is standing on a mound and is reffered to as raised ground. The Type 2 the ground is more flat.

This is correct there are two 1913 types(excluding mintmarks), one where the bison stands on a slightly raised mound and another where the ground is flat.
Another variant exists in 1937. The 1937 - D 3 leg. in this coin one of the front legs of the animal is missing.
Not to be harsh and flame anyone. But typically we call these Buffalo Nickles.
Gary, Your correct of course, but technically there is no American "Buffalo", it's a Bison. It's just one of those little quirks in American coinage, like refering to the Lincoln Cent as a "Penny" or the "Mercury" Dime, which is in actuality a Winged Liberty Head. Make any Cents? lol ~ Jim
