Coin Network - Coin Collecting Social Network

Hey,

I am new here, my friend Jon67 told me about this forum. My name is Dan, I am 25 years old and I have been collecting since I was about 8. There was a few years in between that I didnt do much collecting during high school, but I am back at it, stronger than ever.

I used to be a junk hoarder, but lately Ive been trying to focus on Small cents. Ive been working on slowly selling off all the junk that I had hoarded over the years, and use the money to buy small cents. I go with quality over quantity now, as my collection was getting out of control before.

Well, I wanted to say hi and introduce myself. I plan to stick around and contribute where I can, and theres always room for me to learn as well.

Thanks Aidan.
I do hope to learn alot, but I hope I can contribute just as much.
Welcome Dan. I'm a very new collector and so know very little about coins....but this site has helped me quite a bit. Those are some very cool pennies on your page. How is it possible for a 1922 penny to be in such good shape? That's crazy.

Hey John,

Welcome to collecting. It is a great hobby and can double over as a nice investment. Theres also plenty of interesting tidbits to learn along the way.
That 1922D did hold up in outstanding condition. Its as nice as it is, because it has never circulated, and it was stored in the proper conditions. If you take a look at the 1916 that I posted pictures of, that coin also managed to escape circulation. But the 1916 was stored in much different conditions, causing it to tone. Both coins are in a similar grade, but were stored in different conditions. One kept that fresh from the mint look, and the other got that wild tone. Pretty cool huh???
What are "small" cents? Are they just what they say: the cents that came after the "large" cents?
