It's pretty easy, just read the post and reply if you feel like there is something you can add. Welcome to the group and enjoy the wonderful world of numismatics!
Welcome to the group sprak26, you'll find several Philippine forums on the web, including two on Ning. I'm a life member of the Philippine Numismatic and Antiquarian Society and I actually run a forum for club member's. There's another open forum for collector's of Philippine coins that you can reach here http://philcoins.ning.com/

I recommend starting by collecting the coins you really like, and most of all have fun, because that's what collecting coins is all about. Use these forums and buy books on the coins you collect and learn as much about what you like as possible. If you have question's, no matter how small, speak up. They say the only stupid question is the one not asked. Welcome to Coin Network, I'm sure you'll like it here. ~ Jim

It would be easier to answer these question if people would say what they are interested in.

do Philippine coins have value also?

Yes indeed! All coins have value to some point. If you want to collect Philippine coins, I'd recommend looking for older pieces that are no longer used. The U.S. Philippine series, 1903-1945 is very under rated today and makes for a very historic collection. The early Spanish Philippine stuff is pretty cool too, but I really like the real realy coinage before Spain. Looks like you need to do some homework! ~ Jim
