How can I tell the difference between the 1968 Canada dime and the .500 silver dime? I am also haveing truble with the Canada 25 cents; 1968 silver and other 25 cents.

If you don't have a scale, there's a pretty cool trick for distinguishing silver from clad.

Place a known clad and a known silver coin next to each other on a table with a light above. Cover them with a single sheet of tissue paper (Kleenex) or single ply TP. The silver coins reflection from under the tissue will be bright white, while the clad will be noticably less bright and more gray. Now that you see the difference, use the known clad to compare to the unknown coins.

I've never tried it with .50 silver (only .90) but I'm sure it will still work, maybe just less bright.

It is the colour that is the biggest giveaway to distinguish between the silver & the nickel 10c. & 25c. coins.
