I am new to collecting Silver Eagles and am wondering what the best website (other than ebay or Amazon) has the best price and quality for these coins? I am only planning to purchase one at a time.

Certified?; Unc.?; Back dates?; Mint Marks?; As you can see, there's more to your question that needs explaining before any answer would be appropriate. So...
Permalink Reply by Nick on February 10, 2012 at 2:25pm Sorry :) I am looking for brilliant uncirculated, non-certified, no mint marks, all Silver Eagles from 1986-present.
There are several site that I've bought from in the past. Apmex, Silvertown, Golden Eagle, Coast to Coast Coins, and the list goes on. Check their sites for, Unc, Brilliant Unc, Choice Unc because there is a difference. But wait for a few of the Pros that hang out here, as they are way smarter than I, and I've taken lots of advice from them in the past. Good luck and have FUN!!!
Permalink Reply by Brian D on February 10, 2012 at 6:34pm Try Mintproducts.com. I've bought most of mine from them.
Permalink Reply by Louis on February 10, 2012 at 8:58pm Mintproducts.com is an excellent company, esp. if you are not looking for quantity. I have an order coming from them right now, and that is where I got my 2012 silver eagles. They even sell complete sets 1986-present of nice raw coins. Happy Collecting!
Permalink Reply by Louis on February 10, 2012 at 9:03pm Nicholas, Don't worry about the differences between BU, Gem BU, etc. For ungraded silver eagles, there are definitely differences in quality, but you can't determine anything from those words because different companies use the terms differently. That's part of why the grading companies were founded. It's more a matter of finding an honest company when you are buying raw coins, esp. older raw coins, which are tricky because there is a lot of overgraded stuff out there. Maybe more than you wanted to know...............
Permalink Reply by Nick on February 10, 2012 at 9:27pm Louis, thank you for your detailed response! Just wondering: do you have any experience with either www.americansilvereagles.com or www.bezalelcoins.com?
Permalink Reply by Louis on February 10, 2012 at 11:50pm Never ordered from them, Nicholas. Provident Metals is also a good source with competitive prices and low shipping. It's a bullion company, but they carry a good line of silver eagles.
Permalink Reply by Nick on February 11, 2012 at 12:13am I checked out Provident Metals and their prices for Silver Eagles are less than Mint Products. But most of their Silver Eagles are out of stock...
Permalink Reply by Gary on February 11, 2012 at 12:16am Mint Products.com is the best place to buy silver eagles!! Shipping is pretty reasonable!! There once was a website called "The Metal Mint" which had awesome prices and extremely low mark up and free shipping...BUT they went out of business!! I think if they could have gotten there name out there better they would have had something good going on there!! I would think some of the "Official US Mint Bullion Dealers" would be able to give the best prices on silver eagles since buying from them would cut out the middle man but that doesnt seem to be the case??? I can buy silver eagles cheaper from Mint Products than i can from The Gold Center in Springfield ILL....Which to me...makes NO SENSE AT ALL!! The Gold Center is one of the eleven bullion distributors and Mint Products is not!! So basically the US Mint sells to The Gold Center...The Gold Center sells to Mint Products...and finally Mint Products sells to ME!! And yes...i understand the quantity theory...but still doesnt make sense that i can buy 21 silver eagles from Mint Products cheaper than i can from The Gold Center!!
Right now..1 2012 Silver Eagle from Mint Products is $38.29
and 1 2012 Silver Eagle from www.americansilvereagles.com is $41.10.....so i wouldnt ever be a buyer there, if thats the best price they can do on 2012 issue i wouldnt ever and will never buy from them!!
