The quality of the buffalo gold proofs is so poor that you would do better buying a circulated coin that has been kicking around for a few years.  The Mint has not proven that they have foisted off their years under the Moy administration.  Their definition of a "Proof" is a synonym for "Junk."

With no danger of an immediate sell out happening, I'll be waiting to see what others think of them. The Buffalo series the first series I ever got into from the beginning and I have examples of every offering the MInt ever made containing Buffs. I'd hate to miss out on buying the 2011 but these coins are only appreciating with gold value except for the '08's. The '06 was by far the most detailed and well struck of the series.

IMO, this coin and the 2011 Unc Gold Eagle both have investment potential, but that will depend on mintage and too early to get much of a read on that yet. So like usual, I am going to watch and wait for a while. I might be a little too cautious at times but I have made many more mistakes rushing into things than I have by taking my time.

I am also a fan of these like Bill is, so given my name and 2008 Buffalo avatar here it just struck me as funny I'm not jumping on these, lol.

I forgot to mention that some of the bullion Buffs look more detailed than the Proofs. I

In the end I'll probably go ahead and buy one but I'll wait for a price reduction to do so.

I think overall I like the Unc versions the best, but some of the proofs do look pretty good. This one graded PR70 and seems to have pretty good detail:
