This is an easy choice for me, the Lincoln Chronicles set. It will be very limited, and comes with some neat stuff that will make it unique. Don't snooze on this one, it will sell out in two or three hours max.
Easy choice for me, as well. The Chronicles, in my opinion, is by far THE most appealing collectible to come out of The Mint in a while...
OK, I am going to buck the trend and say the 2009 Uncirculated Coin Set. I already have both the Lincoln Proof dollar and the four proof cents. Putting them togther and adding a copy of the Gettysburg Address and a picture of Abe doesn't add any real value in my opinion. In the long run, mint offerings are worth the value of the coins in them and in the secondary market, these "coin & XXX" sets often sell for less than the coin alone. An example of this is the 2001 Anerican & Buffalo coin & currency set which is selling for about $150 while the 2001 Uncirculated dollar with box and COA sells for about $180. I am not sure why this is true, but there you go (perhaps people believe that lower quality, possibly return, coins are used in these sets). Since the mint now uses special planchets for the uncircilated coin set, I do not have any of the coins in this set and it is the only way to get the 2009 bronze Lincoln cents in uncirculated condition (a misnomer really, they are in fact a sort of satin proof, although they may only be single struck so they technically may not qualify for proof status). In some of the previously issued "coin & XXX" sets, there were unique coins offered (the 2000 Millenium C&C set with the burnished Sacagawea dollar, the 1997 Botanic Garden C&C set with the matte nickel, the 1993 Jefferson C&C set with the 1994 matte nickel, the 1998 Robert Kennedy 2 coin set with the matte half dollar, etc.) and those were clearly worth buying to get the unique coins. I just don't think that the packaging adds to the value of the coin and it doesn't look like the secondary market exists for these "collections". The coins are what hold value, not the packaging. That does not mean that that I don't like thess sets, I do think they have a certain personal value, it just does not transfer into monetary value well. I look to the mint for coins, not collectables.
Chronicles.
The coins are what hold the value not the packageing,I agree Clair !
As a total sidenote to this discussion, the mint has just booked my order for my subscription for the 2009 Uncirculated Coin Set. The pre-booking of subscription orders is something the mint has finally done right (even though it technically violates their policy against placing orders before their official release date/time). They have placed an expected ship date of 14oct2009 (two weeks after official release) on the order.

Precisely....keep the leather, all I want (need?) are the coins. However, Clair has a great point...one that is causing me to reconsider the number of subscription orders I currently have in place for the Uncirc's. I can see some value here for a couple of reason...the 2009 dime and nickel. Where else, at this point in time, is one going to find these elusive coins?
I forgot to mention that my order for the UNC set is currently listed as suspended, I suppose they will lift the suspension at noon EST on Thursday. On the subject of the 2009 nickel and dime, the coins in the uncirculated set are fundamentally different from uncirculated versions of coins that are intended for circulation. They are minted on specially prepared planchets and handled differently than business strikes. The business strike nickel and dime are the only business strikes that the mint does not sell direct to the public this year (the mint is the only place to get the business strike half dollar, none are circulated). This will make getting our hands on high quality business strike nickels and dimes a real chalenge this year.
