The Silver Eagle Reverse Proof is one of my favorite modern non-gold coins. At one time I owned about 15 of them, but sold most of them in the summer of 2007 when they were at their peak (price).
As I'm sure most of you are aware, all the 2006 20th Anniversary Silver Eagle Reverse Proofs were minted at the Philadelphia Mint and carry the "P" mint mark on the reverse of the coin.
Recently, I added this coin to my collection...mistakenly labeled by PCGS as a 2006-W instead of 2006-P
I guess this one slipped thru quality control !!

I can understand that...lol. I just really wanted to make sure you knew that coin variety existed.
Also, there is a 2006-W Gold Eagle Reverse Proof (one ounce) with a mintage of only 10,000
And the 2007-W Platinum Eagle Reverse Proof. (1/2 ounce)
Steve W said:That 2008 W with the reverse 2007 will have to wait. It carries a hefty premium. I broke the piggy bank this month and I will need to repair my marital relationship first. LOL

Don't forget the 2008-W with the reverse of 2007 that I mentioned earlier....it's also the "burnished" variety.
Steve,
I have not purchased the Gold or Platinum Eagles. I usually stick with the pre-1933 gold coins in as good a grade as I can afford. In the bullion coins I prefer the Gold Buffaloes and I did buy 3 UHRs. Silver coins are an afterthought for me. I have the ASE proofs and some commemorative coins just for grins. I really like the silver Buffaloes from 2001. I believe that they could sell as many of those as they could mint. I will probably make a play for the 2008/2007 Burnished Silver Eagle at some point in the future. I lack the cajones to buy the key.
My real set ambition lies with my $2.5 Indians. I still have 6 coins including the key 1911 d to complete the set. That should occupy my wallet for some time to come. I like the design and I think they have good investment potential in 3-5 years. Rumor has it that they are no longer minted. LOL

I love the $2.50 & $5 Indian Heads as well. For someone that has only been collecting coins for a couple of years, you already have a great collection. The good (or bad, lol) thing about coins is I will NEVER get to point where I can say...well, that about does it...I can't really think of another coin I'd like to have that I don't already own!! So, knowing I won't even get a fraction of what I'd like, the difficult part is deciding which ones I like best that I can afford. And sometimes after I've had a coin for a year of two, my interest will change and I'll sell it so I can buy another coin (usually pre-1933 gold or Carson City Morgans) that I've never held in my hands before.

Steve,
I now have everything except the 1995-W PF & 2008 rev 2007 Burnished. At every buy I was below the retail price. The 1995 W would cost more than everything else combined. This shows how silly "rarity" can be! I will probably get the burnished coin in a 69 at some point this fall. All coins are NGC certified in 69 or 70.
