1000-Nickel survey results

1000 Nickels were examined at random in November-December 2008, all unique rolls, from middle-Tennessee. As I recall, no silver was found and the only great find was a 1929 Buffalo nickel in VG-10; I believe that was my best buffalo nickel find to date. I divided the nickels into 4 general categories:

Pre-1980 - 15.0% (150 nickels)
1980-2003 - 64.1% (641 nickels)
2004 & 2005 - 9.0% (90 nickels)
2006-2008 - 11.9% (119 nickels)

Of the last 600 nickels examined, 1.2% (7) of those were pre-1960.
